I left Palo Verde at 7:32am and rode through an area of farmland. After about 20 miles I arrived in the town of Blythe. I stopped at a coffee shop and had a coffee and something to eat with three other cyclists. As we were getting to leave several other riders pulled in. After the short break one of the other cyclists and I got on the the road together. We carried on for a few miles and crossed the Colorado River to Arizona. Once in Arizona, we rode for 17.5 miles on the shoulder of the busy I-10. There was a fair bit of truck tire debris on the road consisting of rubber and wire. A few of the riders got flats from small strands of wire. The terrain and vegetation changed as we entered Arizona and it wasn’t long before we could see saguaro cactus. We arrived at the RV park around noon. It was a shorter day today of 44 miles with an average speed just over 13 miles per hour. The only climb of the day was on I-10.
Camping in Quartzsite. Another one that ranks low on my chart. If I pass through again I will stay at the Super 8.
