March 18
After a sound sleep in a room at the Lookout Lodge in Tombstone I woke up refreshed and ready for the 80km ride through the quiet, back roads on the way to Bisbee. Bisbee is an old mining town with museums, galleries and a variety of shops for tourist to spend their money in. The ride was enjoyable although there was one section of a about 5 or 6 miles where I had to cycle a gentle uphill grade against a headwind. There was only about 1900 feet of climbing today.
We camped at Higgins Park, at a city park on a hill in the centre of town. Tomorrow is a rest day in Bisbee. We were told we’d have to move our tents to another section of the park because a large group of 40 fully supported cyclists would be rolling in by 10am.
