I began my trip through the upper peninsula of northern Michigan with a paddle in in my kayak at our cottage near Bruce Mines, Ontario. I had planned to ride to Sault Ste. Marie first thing in the morning but the lake was calm and the weather was perfect so I went for a paddle. After a 45 minute paddle around the east side of the lake, I jumped on my bicycle and road 55km to Sault Ste. Marie. I spent the afternoon gathering my touring equipment together and planning my route. On Wednesday I’ll cross the international bridge to Sault Ste. Marie Michigan and follow the south shore of Lake Superior to Paradise Mi. or Tahquamenon Falls State Park.
