I left the campground at 8:30 this morning and proceeded west along the rolling of M-123. Traffic was light along this highway and most vehicles gave me plenty of room as they passed me except of course logging trucks. I arrived in Newberry around 11:00 and had an early lunch at the MacDonalds at the junction of M-28 and M-123. After fuelling up on coffee and a Big Mac (I’ll probably regret this later) I pushed on and headed south along County Road 393. I really enjoyed riding on this very quiet stretch of road for 17 miles. Lots of wildflowers were growing along the shoulder of the road. After connecting with US 2, I headed east. The traffic was heavy but the smooth , wide shoulders helped make the ride enjoyable. I then took some back roads and connected again with M-123 and headed south towards St. Ignace. It was a pretty hot day with the temperature in the upper 20’s C. I headed south on Mackinaw Trail and found a place to camp at the Castle Rock Campground, a few miles north of St. Ignace. I arrived there just before 5:00 pm after riding 91 miles today. I set up my tent on a grassy spot under some shade trees on a site that only cost me $10. There was even a place to charge cell phones and get internet access in the office.
