I arrived in San Diego just after 11am local time. After taking a taxi to my hotel, grabbing some lunch and changing in to some cycling clothing I took a taxi to Bernie’s Bicycle Shop to pick up my bike. I rode down to the beach to watch the ocean for a bit and then cycled back to the hotel. The 11km ride was mostly along a paved bike path although there was some sections on busy streets, mostly with painted bike lanes. When I got back to the hotel I spent some time getting the bike set up and packed. It was a cool day with temperatures in the mid teens Celsius. Still much warmer than at home. After dinner I took it easy before hitting the sack. It was a long day that started at 5am eastern time.
