It was short 30 mile ride from Oro Valley to my hotel near the Tucson airport today. I had planned to spend the day in Oro Valley but when I saw the weather forecast and potential for rain later this morning I decided to head out just after breakfast.
I stopped for a short break at this park on the way to the hotel.
I guess because it was a Sunday morning and because it was cloudy and cool there were not many people on the bike paths today. The 30 miles passed by quickly and there was only one short sprinkle of rain along the way.
The last 5 miles of the ride we’re on city streets but luckily because it was a Sunday there was not very much traffic. About a mile from the hotel I stopped at a Subway for an early lunch. By 1230 I had checked into my hotel room and began repacking my gear and getting my bike ready for shipment back to Sault Ste. Marie.
I’ll stay here for a couple of nights before catching an early flight home on Tuesday.
Tomorrow morning I will ride 5 miles to the nearest bike shop and leave it there for them to disassemble and ship back home. In the afternoon I will relax and hang around the pool.
While the trip didn’t exactly go as planned, I did enjoy myself and managed to ride over 1000 km from San Diego to Tucson. I especially enjoyed cycling in Arizona and would like to come back here again sometime to do some other rides.
