We arrived in Winnipeg before 8am on Thursday and had a 3 hour stop so I was able to get off the train and walk around. I walked drown to the ‘Forks’. The Forks Is designated as a National Historic Site and is located where the Red River and Assiniboine River meet. There are several meandering walking and bike paths along the edge of the river. At the train station they had a good internet connection and I was able to download some podcasts to listen to. The rest of the day we traveled through Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Lots of flat, open space. I expected to see the crops higher in the fields. I think they had a cool, wet spring which may have delayed planting.
We arrived in Edmonton an hour ahead of schedule this morning (Friday) around 5:30.
