El Paso to Fort Hancock – April 3

I set out with one of the other riders just before 8am. Luckily it was Good Friday and the busy traffic on Mesa St. from yesterday was not there.  We headed south on Mesa and after a few turns, ended up heading east on Delta St.   We continued heading east and ended up on North Loop Dr. heading east out of El Paso.

At the town of Fabens we met up with a few other riders and stopped for a snack at a food stand. I ordered a burrito chile relleno.  It only coat $2.50 and tasted great.

We continued east on SR 20 and passed through the small towns of Tornillo and Acala before arriving in Fort Hancock. The riding was good and we cruised along at 18-20 mph with a bit of a tail wind on mostly flat roads.

When we arrived a Fort Hancock, we set up camp at the community church. Some decided to sleep in the church hall and a few of us set up our tents in the yard beside the church.   Total mileage for the day was 60 miles.
