Coldspring to Silsbee TX – April 20

I woke up to clear skies and a temperature in the high 50’s. Winds today were forecast to be from a northerly direction and the forecast high temperature was forecast to be in the mid 70’s.

I got on the road around 8am with one of the other cyclists from our group. Today’s ride was mainly flat and we passed through the towns of Shepard, Dolen, Roymayor, Thicket, Honey Island and Kountze before arriving in Silsbee.

Forestry appears to be the main employer in the area. We were passed today by many logging trucks.  Along the way we passed some cutovers that had been replanted with pine.

The 74 miles passed by quickly and we arrived in Silsbee around 2:30 in the afternoon. Today is our last full day in Texas as we will be riding in to Louisiana tomorrow.
