Kerrville to Pedernales Falls State Park – April 14

It was cool and cloudy this morning.  I got on the road before 8 am with 4 other riders. After riding back through the town of Kerville, we headed north on a series of quiet roads for almost 30 miles before heading east on FM 2093 to Fredericksburg.

We stopped in Fredericksburg at a German bakery for breakfast. I had two German pancakes that were bigger in diameter than my plate.  There were several other cyclists there as well who were participating in a different Adventure Cycling event, the Texas Hill Country Tour.  After lunch, the skies cleared and it warmed up to the mid seventies.

Some of the riders stayed a little longer in Fredericksburg while I headed out with one of the other cyclists. After leaving Fredericksburg we travelled on Rd. 1631 and 2721. Wildflowers covered he shoulder of the roads for miles.  We knew we were in Texas Hill Country today because of the many hills we climbed and descended all day.

One of the other riders and I stopped in Johnson City for a snack and a short rest. After another 9 or 10 miles we arrived at Pedernales Falls State Park. He ride in to the campsite was about 3 miles from the main road.

Our total mileage for the day was 88 miles.  Tomorrow is a 51 mile ride to Austin.
