Merryville to Oberlin LA – April 22

The people from the Museum and Historical Society provided us with a great breakfast in the museum this morning. We had pancakes, a breakfast casserole, coffee and muffins before heading out on US 190 East. After cycling about 20 miles we stopped in DeRidder for a short break and a coffee.  It wasn’t too long before other cyclist from our group arrived after us.

After leaving DeRidder we turned on to SR 26 and continued east under sunny skies and a temperature in the mid to high 70’s.  After cycling another 22 miles I stopped with another rider at a roadside restaurant and had a BLT.  The  paved shoulder of SR 26 was littered with pieces of bark from the many logging trucks that go by.

The terrain today was mainly flat and the road was straight as an arrow for many miles.  When we reached Oberlin, we headed south on US 65 for 6 miles until we reached the Days Inn.
