This winter just won’t end

This has been one of the coldest and snowiest winters that we have experienced in several years. I don’t recall a winter with as many days with daytime highs in the -12c to -15c since the 1990’s. The cold temperatures have had an impact on my cross country skiing this winter. While I’ve been out skiing on average about 6 days each week, which is normal for me, my total distance skied is well bellow normal. Most days I have only been skiing about 9.5 to 12 km in distance. The cold temperatures lead me to keep the distance skied short. I’ve also done more classic skiing than skate skiing because of the cold mornings and poor glide with skate skis. I was hoping to have the opportunity to ramp up my skiing this week before I head south next week, but it looks like the jet stream will be pumping more cold weather our way right up until I leave. I guess I can’t complain, I’ve still been able to ski regularly since late November.
